On confirmation of his appointment, a delighted Drinkwater commented “ I’m delighted to get this opportunity to be the head coach of NWORL, I’m grateful to the committee for giving me the chance to test myself at this level and I can’t wait to get started, I really enjoyed this season as assistant and getting to know the players, but now I feel ready to take the next step and build on the successful platform that’s already in place and hopefully take it to the next level.”

Following a season review, the committee have been consolidating their plans for the coming seasons to build on their 2018 baseline year for delivering North Wales talent to the National Teams and professional clubs.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, Vice-chair Conrad Anderson said, “as we have again seen this year that we have a wealth of talent here in the North with players not only representing Wales at U19, Student and Dragonhearts but also, a number recently signing for North Wales Crusaders. We aim to build on these numbers in future years and believe that Matt is the right coach to take the development of our players and team forward to achieve our goals”.
